Nepal Healing Traditions

In the Himalayan Mountains, coffee & tea farmers of Nepal have tribal knowledge steeped in tradition with historical roots as prevalent today as they were over 500 years ago. Much of what they have to teach has to do with the Earth's biodiversity - honor the plants & animals we share the Earth's limited resources with!

At HEAT, we strive to honor this traditional wisdom through our organic, fair trade teas; combining pure, whole leaf tea & rare botanicals into a diverse array of colorful tea sachets -taste the healing culture of the Himalayas in your cup! NAMASTE!

Every living being has a vital purpose to play in the extraordinary dance of nature.

Wildlife has long been a factor in the Nepalese consideration of their land's value. Small farmers understand the delicate balance found in nature and enrich their small farms with biodiverse food and medicinal herbs. They grow food needed for the rugged life in the mountains. Calling out your favorite birds while strolling through the forests, that's still a fantastic skill!

Shade trees blanket the steep hillsides of the tea gardens of Eastern Nepal. Farmers have long understood the need to protect sweet camellia blossoms from the heat of the powerful Himalayan sun. Knowing what trees to plant for best shade, best soil nutrition, that's traditional knowledge.

Diverse deciduous trees, several hundred indigenous to the Himalayas are known to provide additional crops of nuts, fruits & medicines in addition to feeding the soil with their nitrogen-rich leaves in fall. Nepali farmers plant trees that attract beneficial pollinators, those that serve dual purposes for their land by providing fodder for animals or food, both of which are useful in their sustinance-trade based economy.
